The Department of Health (DoH) warned the public against a fake social media post circulating that claims individuals are conducting blood sugar tests with needles contaminated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
It belied a social media post claiming that members of a supposed “Faculty of Medicine” are visiting houses for blood sugar tests.
“The post claims that the needles used to inject are allegedly contaminated with HIV,” the DoH said in an advisory.
“The Philippine National Police has also debunked this message, confirming that it is a scare tactic with no factual basis,” it added.
The Health department also urged the public not to share unverified claims that may cause unnecessary alarm.
It also enjoined the public to source information only from legitimate sources and platforms such as the DoH and its official social media pages.
