The intensified campaign against the illegal practice of medicine by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) paid off after they arrested a Vietnamese national in a recent operation.
In a statement released by the NBI on Sunday morning, the NBI-Organized and Transnational Crime Division (OTCD) arrested the Vietnamese national identified as Trinh Thi Kieu Nguyen, alias “Dr. Rosa,” in Mandaluyong City for violation of Section 10 in relation to Section 28 of RA 2382 or the Illegal Practice of Medicine.
NBI director Jaime Santiago said that the operation stemmed from information provided by a confidential informant regarding the illegal practice of medicine being perpetrated by a female Vietnamese national at a beauty clinic in Mandaluyong City.
Agents of NBI-OTCD conducted surveillance operations, which confirmed the veracity of the information. It was revealed that a female Vietnamese national was offering medical procedures such as eyelid surgery, vaginal tightening, Botox, and other cosmetic procedures for a fee at JK Beauty Clinic (JK) located on the ground floor of the Jovan Condominium Building in Mandaluyong City.
The confidential informant, who also acted as a poseur customer, was able to secure an appointment with JK for a Botox procedure.
On 8 January 2025, operatives of NBI-OTCD proceeded to JK and the poseur customer, accompanied by an undercover agent, entered the clinic for the scheduled Botox procedure and nano filler on the chin, priced at P8,000 each.
