The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported a notable reduction in the city’s crime rate for Calendar Year (CY) 2024.

QCPD Acting Director P/Col. Melecio Buslig Jr. announced that total crime incidents dropped from 2,367 in 2023 to 1,847 in 2024, a decrease of 520 incidents or 21.97 percent.

Buslig highlighted significant declines across several crime categories: physical injuries decreased from 197 to 154 cases (-21.83 percent); rape incidents fell from 363 to 274 cases (-24.52 percent); robbery incidents dropped from 415 to 254 cases (-38.80 percent); and theft cases reduced from 1,088 to 844 cases (-22.43 percent). Motorcycle thefts also showed a slight decrease from 154 to 151 cases (-1.95 percent).

With these improvements, Buslig noted that the QCPD achieved an impressive Crime Clearance Efficiency rate of 99.62 percent.

“I attribute this significant achievement to the collaborative efforts of the QCPD, the support of the Quezon City LGU under our Hon. Mayor Joy Belmonte, and the community. Despite challenges in certain areas, I reaffirm our commitment to reducing crime through proactive policing and sustained community partnerships, ensuring a safer Quezon City for all,” Buslig said.
