CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY— Princess Jenniel Galarpe, the wife of Olympic bronze medalist Eumir Marcial, has publicly confirmed their breakup on Friday and revealed that she’ll file a concubinage case against her husband.

Galarpe alleged that Marcial has been living with another woman and recounted enduring months of trauma, manipulation, emotional stress and physical abuse throughout their relationship.

In a lengthy and emotional Facebook post that has since gone viral, Galarpe detailed the events leading to their separation.

“I feel like I owe it to myself to share the truth to everyone who has been there from the very beginning of our relationship, who witnessed our marriage, until now that it has been deeply wounded me by it, 14 years later,” Galarpe wrote.

She recounted catching Marcial with his mistress at a condominium in Pasay City in October 2024. The incident resulted in the arrest and temporary detention of both Marcial and the other woman for five days.

Despite the betrayal, Galarpe said she gave her husband multiple chances to repair their marriage.

“Despite some of my family’s strong disapproval, I still gave Eumir multiple chances to make amends with our marriage,” she said.

“But what I got instead was him further manipulating me,” she added.

Galarpe alleged that Marcial had withdrawn all their savings and used the money to build a house in Zamboanga City, where he now lives with his mistress.

She added that trusted friends in Zamboanga have corroborated her claims, reporting sightings of the two together.

“I had to go separate ways with Eumir and severed all sources of communication with him after all the trauma, manipulation, emotional stress, physical abuse, and psychological torment that I had to endure these past few months and throughout our years of being together,” she said.

Galarpe also expressed concern for her safety, as well as for her family and potential witnesses in the concubinage case she will file. She alleged receiving threats from Marcial, claiming he warned her that she would not be able to enter the United States or gain anything from their separation.

“As some of you may also know, I have been Eumir’s brand manager for the longest time, sacrificing my career to help build his,” Galarpe said.

“A bigger part of the reason why I’m making this information public is because I’m seriously concerned about my safety, the safety of my family, and the potential witnesses of this case against Eumir.”

She also accused Marcial of leveraging his status as a well-recognized athlete to gain support and protection from influential connections, which she fears could sway the outcome of the case. Galarpe emphasized her decision to go public as a means of empowering other women in similar situations.

“I feel strongly about my intention to share this truth to the public, a truth that not only represents me but so many women who have had to deal with their abusive husbands, and who may have felt silenced or powerless to defend themselves,” she said.

Meanwhile, Atty. Marlon Morada, the lawyer of boxer Eumir Marcial, clarified in a statement that they have yet to receive a formal complaint-affidavit from Marcial’s wife regarding the allegations circulating on social media.

He assured that Marcial would directly respond to the allegations once the complaint-affidavit is formally received.

Morada emphasized that the two-time Olympian remains committed to his career.

“Despite the social media publication, Mr. Marcial chooses to keep family matters private and as such, shall address any and all allegations against him in the proper forum,” he said.

In a video shared by 89.9 Brigada Zamboanga on Saturday morning, Eumir Marcial defended himself, disputing the claims made by his wife.

He addressed allegations of physical abuse and also denied accusations that he used their savings account to build a home for a supposed mistress.

“If I hurt her, do you think that’s what will happen to her, that she has a bruise on her leg? She has a bruise on herface? It was an accident because I was protecting myself that’s why it happened,” he said.

“The woman they saw in the picture is my friend who I went to once because she is from Zamboanga. We met in Makati, we were from Zamboanga, got to know each other, talked, and then we got together. Actually, when we got together, he was with a friend, I was also with him,” he added.
