The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Friday disclosed road closures near Quirino Grandstand for the Iglesia ni Cristo’s (INC) National Rally for Peace on 13 January.

MMDA Traffic Operations Officer Manny Miro announced the closure of the following roads around the Rizal Park area: Katigbak Drive, South Drive, Roxas Boulevard (from UN Avenue to P. Burgos), T.M. Kalaw, Bonifacio Drive (from P. Burgos to Anda Circle) and Maria Orosa.

He also advised road users to use alternate routes such as UN Avenue and Quirino Avenue during the road closures.

Trucks were advised to take the Quirino Ave-Lacson-Capulong-R10 route during the road closure.

Several roads in the vicinity will also be used as designated parking areas for the event, Miro said.

The MMDA is expecting up to 1 million attendees for the 13 January event.

Meantime, MMDA chairperson Atty. Romando Artes said they will allow street parking on that day, but only one lane can be used, adding that if the road has two or three lanes, only one lane should be used for parking.

Miro, on the other hand, said that vehicles should not occupy the entire road to the point that no other vehicle can pass through.

Last 4 December the religious group announced that they would hold a rally where they would express support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s stance against impeachment moves.

Earlier, Marcos said he does not support any impeachment plans against Vice President Sara Duterte, who is currently facing three impeachment complaints.
