The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) announced on Friday that it has earned the World Lottery Association (WLA) Level 2 Certification for Responsible Gaming, joining an exclusive group of global lottery operators committed to responsible gaming practices.

This achievement follows an independent assessment that recognized PCSO’s efforts in promoting responsible gaming while fulfilling its mission to raise funds for health and welfare programs.

The certification process involved a comprehensive review of PCSO’s responsible gaming initiatives, including measures to prevent underage participation, reduce gaming-related risks, and educate the public on responsible play.

Lottery operators that meet the WLA Responsible Gaming Framework are granted the WLA Level 2 Certification. This recognition highlights PCSO’s development of policies, staff training programs, and strategies that ensure the safe and sustainable operation of its gaming activities.

PCSO general manager Melquiades A. Robles expressed pride in the milestone, stating, “Achieving the WLA Level 2 Certification demonstrates our commitment to balancing revenue generation for charitable causes with the promotion of responsible gaming.”

Robles added that the certification underscores PCSO’s dedication to protecting players, stakeholders and the communities it serves.

This achievement also aligns with PCSO’s broader corporate social responsibility goals, emphasizing player protection and promoting sustainable gaming practices. Robles believes the certification will enhance the agency’s ability to raise funds for essential services, including medical assistance, disaster response, and livelihood programs for Filipinos.

Looking forward, Robles pledged that PCSO will continue enhancing its responsible gaming framework, aiming for higher WLA certification levels and fostering trust, transparency, and accountability among its stakeholders. He also emphasized that this milestone marks just the beginning of PCSO’s journey to becoming a globally recognized, trustworthy, and responsible lottery operator.
