Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo has reflected on the judiciary’s achievements over the past year as he looks forward to a hopeful 2025.
This comes as Gesmundo disclosed the ongoing reforms and the pursuit of a justice system marked by fairness and efficiency which was part and parcel of the Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations (SPJI) 2022 to 2027.
“As we step into a new year, let us take a moment to reflect on the journey we have shared. Swiftly as the year passed, steadily implemented our reforms. Together, we faced difficulties, yet undeniably, we have made significant strides towards our goal of building a more efficient, responsive, and forward-looking judiciary,” Gesmundo said.
The past year was described by the Chief Justice as a period of profound progress and transformation, not just in judicial procedures but also in reinforcing the foundational principles of justice.
Key reforms focused on ensuring fairness and expanding access to justice for all regardless of background and integrating technology to modernize the judiciary.
“As we move forward, let us continue to embrace the ongoing reforms with the same dedication and determination that have defined our journey thus far,” Gesmundo said.
He likewise acknowledged the dedication of judicial staff and stakeholders, crediting their efforts for the progress achieved so far.
The judiciary was urged by Gesmundo as 2025 begins, to maintain its commitment to reform and embrace challenges with renewed purpose.
Gesmundo said with humility the new year should be welcomed with faith, hope, and renewed purpose.”
