When I had my first media trip to China, Changsha wasn’t just a city — it was a whole vibe. And if there’s one thing you cannot miss when exploring this Hunan Province gem, it’s Sexy Tea. Trust me, the hype is real, and after experiencing it, I get why locals rave about it.

Founded by Zhang Zhongzheng in 2013, Sexy Tea isn’t your average bubble tea shop. It’s a modern ode to traditional Chinese tea culture, blending authentic tea flavors with a hint of Western dessert flair.

The brand doesn’t just slap sugar into a cup; instead, it crafts each drink with a focus on tea quality, adjusting sweetness, temperature and serving size to your liking.

The moment you step into a Sexy Tea shop, it’s like stepping into an art gallery. Every store is decked out in aesthetic designs inspired by Chinese culture, from intricate calligraphy to modern interpretations of traditional art. Think chic meets heritage.

And don’t even get me started on their packaging — it’s so cute and Insta-worthy that your camera roll will thank you.

The taste that defines Changsha

Sexy Tea doesn’t just offer drinks — it delivers an experience. While I was exploring Changsha, I found Sexy Tea everywhere, and every cup felt like a sip of the city itself. From the creamy milk teas to the refreshing fruit teas, each flavor tells a story of Changsha’s love for balance — neither too sweet nor too overpowering.

It’s no wonder Sexy Tea ranked 6th in 2020 among China’s top 10 most beloved tea brands. The brand has become as iconic as Changsha’s stinky tofu. You can’t claim to have fully experienced Changsha without giving it a try.

When locals tell you to try something, you listen. That’s exactly how I found myself in line for a cup of Sexy Tea.

Whether it was our project manager or a friendly translator of our media seminar, everyone insisted I make this part of my itinerary.

And honestly? They weren’t wrong.

Drinking Sexy Tea while walking along the city’s bustling streets or chilling in a quiet corner was like soaking in Changsha’s unique vibe.

Sexy Tea isn’t just a drink; it’s a slice of Changsha’s culture poured into an aesthetic cup. If you’re planning a trip to this vibrant city, do yourself a favor and grab a cup — or two.

From its mellow flavors to its Insta-perfect vibes, Sexy Tea is more than worth the hype.
