A man was arrested for drug possession and car theft in Cainta, Rizal, early Saturday morning.
The suspect, identified as alias “Axel,” 28, a resident of Barangay Sto. Domingo, Cainta, was apprehended following an incident at a grocery store parking lot along A. Bonifacio Avenue, Barangay Sto. Domingo.
According to reports, Axel and another suspect stole a car from the victim, alias “Nor,” 27, a company driver.
The victim stated that he saw one of the suspects inside his car and confronted him. The suspect immediately fled, taking a body bag that contained a wallet, identification cards, a wristwatch, and P60,000 in cash.
The victim sought assistance from the Cainta Municipal Police Station and, with the help of the rogues gallery, was able to identify the suspect. A follow-up operation led to the suspect’s successful arrest, while the other suspect remained at large.
According to the Rizal Provincial Police, the suspect has a history of arrests for robbery, theft and illegal gambling.
Authorities recovered six sachets of suspected shabu, weighing approximately 1 gram, with an estimated street value of P6,800.
The suspect is now detained at the Cainta Municipal Police Station’s custodial facility and faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and theft.
