The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday warned the public of overeating during the holiday season.
In a media conference, DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa said many hospitals across the country, during the holiday season, admit patients who suffer from heart attack, stroke, and diabetes.
"So now, I need your help. Because there are many, when Christmas comes, who eat food that has high cholesterol," Herbosa told reporters in Filipino.
"Some of them will say 'It's only once a year that we get to eat lechon, fatty food, and sweet food," he added.
Herbosa cautioned the public to refrain from eating food with high cholesterol and rich in oil.
"If you eat a lot, exercise. You must burn the calories you actually take in," he added.
"So walk, ride a bike, exercise at the gym, or if you want, exercise at home."
He also reminded those who will drink alcoholic beverages and will be driving home to have a "designated driver" to avoid possible road accidents.
