Bureau of Customs (BoC) employees have accused an official from the Internal Administration Group of extorting money from personnel seeking travel authority and promotions.
In a letter sent to the BoC leadership, the employees detailed allegations that the official demands P20,000 for travel authority, regardless of whether the trip is for personal or official business.
Moreover, the letter, which was also sent to the House of Representatives and the Department of Finance, claimed that the official demands exorbitant sums for promotions.
The alleged fees range from P200,000 to P500,000 for promotion to Special Agent 1, P500,000 to P1 million for Assistant Customs Operations Officer 1, P3 million for Customs Operations Officer 2 and 3, and P5 million for Customs Operations Officer 5.
