Are you in charge?

Have you ever had a day like this? You have been on the go and when it is time to go to sleep your mind is busy. In fact, if one were to traffic your thoughts, then your internal traffic system would malfunction. Such a situation is common with all of us. Your body is tired and sleep is on your mind. However, there are many other thoughts that compete for your attention.
When you are in this mental dilemma, the best thing to do is to STOP.
You are in charge
Let these very words sink in. Yes, only you can take control of your mind and the million and one thoughts that distract you all day, all night.
You and only you are the only master of your own mind. Not anyone outside of you can manipulate, influence or distort your feelings and thoughts.

Learn to meditate.

To take control:
1. Accept the truth that you are in charge. The maker of your thoughts is you.
2. Understand that the power to think and react comes from within and not without. In short, external factors that may become your stressors have no authority to tell you how to feel or even think. That part is absolutely yours. While we are all sentient beings, capable of much emotion and profound thoughts, there is also the dark side of uncontrollable thoughts such as self-destruction and negativity.
3. Make time to know yourself. You are so busy looking outside that you have forgotten to look inside. This is what is popularly called Self-Care.
4. Practice the art of mindfulness. It is the state of being where you are aware of your every action and reaction.
5. Take time to meditate. Embrace your stillness.
6. Learn how to ask yourself questions. This habit of self-evaluation can empower you.
7. Do mindful breathing. By doing so, you slow down the mind.
8. Have a regular routine. Follow this religiously. Structure is good. It organizes you.
9. Exercise. Keep that blood circulating properly throughout your body.
10. Say YES to yourself everyday. Yes to health, wealth, happiness, joy, love and fulfillment.
11. Learn to say NO. To anyone or anything that robs you of your inner peace.
12. Amuse yourself. Go light by being with happy people and doing the things that give you pleasure.
13. Walk away. From any situation that you foresee might bring danger or sadness to you.
14. Control your mind. Learn how to restrain, train and manage your emotions.
15. Set healthy boundaries. In all your relationships.
16. Be brave by dealing with your deepest, darkest thoughts and feelings. Yes, accept your “shadow” self, the one that gives in to the negative. But know that your “light self” is just beside you. Therefore, follow the light.
Affirmation : I shine like the sun.
Love and Light.
