Construction workers at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on Sunday at 2:53 a.m. discovered a large improvised bag containing more than one kilogram of suspected shabu in the kitchen of the former Hari-Raya restaurant.
According to the NAIA-PDEA IADITG report, during the demolition of the restaurant's kitchen, the construction workers discovered three improvised pouches submerged in the grease traps filled with water.
The construction workers discovered a total of 1,685 grams of illegal drugs with a street value of P11,458,000. Immediately, they called for airport security and reported it to PNP Aviation.
The NAIA-PDEA said that the abandoned illegal drugs had been soaking in the water for a long time and were accidentally discovered by construction workers while renovating the area.
The restaurant is located on the 4th level of the pre-departure area of NAIA Terminal 1.
As authorities continue their investigation into the incident, the said illegal substances are currently being kept by the NAIA-PDEA IADITG.
