The National Bureau of Investigation requested understanding from the public regarding its shortcomings and misdemeanors committed by some personnel.

NBI chief Medardo de Lemos pledged an unwavering commitment to serving the public in the years to come.

"The service to the people will not change. If there are shortcomings and mistakes, it is unavoidable that in every instance, the decisions of the people and the NBI management are correct. Give us a little allowance to correct that," De Lemos said.

The NBI has a history of controversies, including the July incident involving inmate Jad Dera and an official caught trying to re-enter the NBI Detention Center in Manila from an unauthorized trip.

Dera faces charges of corrupting public officials, while six NBI security personnel are accused of violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, as determined in the Department of Justice inquest.

Also, NBI officials gathered at Manila's Diamond Hotel for their Mid-Year Command Conference, featuring various entertainments, including a dancer in revealing attire.
