Two robbery suspects victimizing convenience stores in Novaliches, Quezon City are now in jail after operatives of Quezon City Police District Novaliches Police Station (PS 4) chanced them while robbing an establishment early morning Thursday.
QCPD PS 4 Commander P/Lt.Col. Jerry Castillo identified the suspects as Renato Tugado, 21 years old, and Carlo Tapang, 23 years old, both residents of Brgy. Gulod, Novaliches, Quezon City.
Castillo said his men caught the duo while robbing the Alfamart Convenient Store, located along Susano Road, Brgy. San Agustin, Novaliches, Quezon City at 2:23 a.m. on 21 December 2023.
Al Khalid Ross, CCTV monitoring personnel of the said convenience store saw the suspects on his mobile phone connected to the CCTV camera inside the store taking their loot, which prompted him to call the police.
PS 4 cops immediately responded to verify the report and upon arrival saw the suspects inside the establishment prompted them to effect their immediate arrest at around 3:00 a.m.
Recovered from the suspects were a fan knife approximately 10 inches long; a metal cutting saw approximately 14 inches long; one piece of flat screw approximately 10 inches long; assorted cigarettes; assorted perfumes; and a lighter.
The arrested suspects were charged with robbery before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.
QCPD Director P/Brig.Gen. Redrico Maranan lauded the quick response of PS 4 personnel that led to the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the stolen items.
"Kami sa QCPD ay mahigpit na nagbabantay sa lahat ng sulok ng Quezon City kung kaya't sa isang tawag lang, kami ay darating para arestuhin ang sinumang lalabag sa batas", he said.
