Paranaque City police arrested a Chinese national in the early hours yesterday for illegal possession of firearms.

The apprehended suspect was identified as one alias Jung, 37 years old, a Chinese national, for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The arrest took place at approximately 12:50 a.m. in front of a hotel along Macapagal Blvd., Brgy. Don Galo in Parañaque City.

The arrest was executed when concerned citizens reported to MMDA Officers that a male individual aboard a Ford Raptor was wielding a firearm. Responding swiftly, the officers discovered two caliber .45 guns, with 13 live ammunition rounds, and other incriminating items in the suspect's possession.

The arresting officers, assisted by personnel from Sto. Niño Police Substation, approached the suspect, who threw the gun inside his vehicle upon their arrival. The subsequent search of the vehicle revealed additional firearms, a substantial amount of cash, a Rolex watch, bracelets, and two Android cell phones.

Confiscated were two caliber .45 guns, 13 live ammunition rounds, a dark gray Ford Raptor with plate number NBI 1688, a Rolex watch, two bracelets, and two Android cell phones (Samsung and Huawei). Additionally, a sum of P22,224 in various denominations was also recovered.

Jung was promptly informed of his constitutional rights through an interpreter and taken into custody.

The Southern Police District lauded the MMDA officers and Parañaque City Police Station for their swift action.

Their proactive efforts in safeguarding Parañaque City against lawless elements during the Yuletide season is truly commendable, the SPD said.
