Airport authority warns public not to transact with fake MIAA, NAIA online accounts

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) alerted the public about the dangers of doing business through fake online accounts. One such instance is a recent Facebook post claiming that lost or missing luggage at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is on sale.

The airport authority and airline operators have clear and established protocols for the safekeeping and disposal of lost or left-behind items. Selling these items online is certainly not one of them.

MIAA officer-in-charge Bryan Co expressed dismay over the audacity of fraudsters who pick on unsuspecting individuals wishing to grab discounts or special price offers on goods sold online.

Everyone is urged to exercise utmost caution and vigilance when using the internet, according to Co. He added that when dealing with internet merchants, one should always proceed with care and make sure not to be an easy target by scammers.

The acting airport chief further said that any information, claims, or transactions from other online pages using the NAIA or MIAA names are not valid, adding that if anyone comes across any such pages report them immediately to the authorities and avoid engaging with them.

For official announcements and information dissemination, the MIAA only uses its official Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/MIAAGovPH,
