The village chief of Santiago, Ilocos Sur, also the current president of the Association of Barangay Councils, survived a shooting incident by still unknown assailants on Saturday, 28 October at around 2:25 p.m. at Brgy Butol, Santiago, Ilocos Sur.
The incident was confirmed to Daily Tribune by Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office Director Darnel Dulnuan.
Ruben Elefante sustained a gunshot wound on his right face which exited on his right ear. He was brought to a hospital where he is currently being treated.
Elefante is running for Barangay Kagawad while his wife is running for Barangay Captain at Barangay Butol.
