ZCJMD warden gets international recognition

ZAMBOANGA CITY — The International Corrections and Prisons Association in Antwerp, Belgium has awarded Zamboanga City Jail Male Dormitory Warden Jail Supt. Xavier Awican Solda the "Outstanding Correctional Service Employee of the Year."
Solda was honored by the ICPI as an Outstanding Correctional Service Employee, besting other global nominees in jail management and corrections Thursday morning.
The warden — an officer of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology — is a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 2008 and a product of the Development Academy of the Philippines and the Ateneo School of Government.
The ZCJMD warden received the award in a special ceremony held at the ICPA Conference in Antwerp, Belgium.
ICPA executive director Natalie Boal said that the International Corrections and Prisons Association was proud to recognize Xavier Awican Solda as the 2023 recipient of ICPA's Outstanding Correctional Service Employee Award for his tireless dedication to improving the lives of people incarcerated in the Philippines.
The ICPA Correctional Excellence Awards Committee composed of corrections executives from different countries around the world, cited Solda's outstanding accomplishments in effecting jail management reforms, professionalism and work ethics.
