APO Hiking Society celebrates golden anniversary at Newport World Resorts
Trends come and go, but the classic hits of APO Hiking Society live on. Their chart-topping melodies are still hot-wired into the soul of Filipinos from the '70s all the way to the new century.
The legendary Filipino band's members Jim Paredes and Boboy Garovillo celebrate their 50 solid gold years of friendship and music in the APO Hiking Society 50th Anniversary Concert at the Newport Performing Arts Theater on 17 November.
The anniversary show is a sentimental trip down memory lane that spans five decades. The group's legacy is one that transcends generations, bringing joy to couples growing old together to the tune of "Panalangin."
Another one of their classic tracks, "Awit ng Barkada," has become the soundtrack of solid friendships that have gone through thick and thin. Many also grew up on the wisdom of "Batang Bata Ka Pa," a reminder to hold on to youthful spirit. APO's music has been the backdrop of life's defining moments.
APO's legacy has since been ingrained in the landscape of Original Pilipino Music or "OPM," a term coined by the late Danny Javier himself, one of the band's original members. Over 50 years, they have released some 200 tracks and 27 albums, with two successful tribute albums produced in 2006 and 2007 featuring numerous young bands.
Celebrate APO Hiking Society's golden milestone and relieve the magic of the classics in the APO Hiking Society: 50 Years Solid Gold concert at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
