Kapamilya actor Enchong Dee is basking in the spotlight as his latest film, The Fisher, directed by Paul Soriano, has earned a prestigious nomination at the 36th Tokyo International Film Festival.
The film, which tells the tragic story of a fisherman who discovers a sinister secret, is set to screen in the World Focus Section alongside Lav Diaz's film "Essential Truths of the Lake."
"Pangarap ko lang 'to dati (This was just a dream before)," said Dee in an Instagram Story.
"Yesterday morning, while tidying up, I was having a conversation with the Lord. I expressed my hope that, next time, I'd experience having one of my films nominated in a foreign country. It was like a random thought, just a personal conversation with myself," he added.
"I teared up because it felt like I was simply talking to the Lord that morning, not knowing He had such plans. I wasn't aware of awards in other countries. All I knew was I wanted to experience the feeling of carrying the name of the Philippines to the international stage."
The Tokyo International Film Festival, recognized for displaying the best cinematic works from all around the world, is set to take place 23 October to 1 November.
