Former San Miguel Beer import Ira Brown flexed his muscles and led Chiba Jets to a convincing 93-75 victory over reigning Philippine Basketball Association Governors' Cup champion TNT Wednesday at the start of the East Asia Super League Season 2.
Brown, who also represented the Japan men's basketball team as a naturalized player several years ago, came away with a double-double performance of 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the way for Chiba, which finished runner-up in last season's Japan B. League.
Chiba took advantage of its firepower advantage, where it outscored the Tropang Giga 23-12, in the third.
They pounced on the depleted TNT squad, which played without top gunner Mikey Williams, Calvin Oftana, injured big men Poy Erram and Justin Chua and an ailing Roger Pogoy.
