Famed environmental warrior graces RC Manila assembly
‘In 1993, environmental warrior and lawyer Antonio Oposa made global headlines for the landmark case, Minors Oposa v Factoran which is known today in Philippine and global jurisprudence as the ‘Oposa Doctrine.’ The Philippine Supreme Court, too, in promulgating the case, secured its place in history as a champion of people’s right to a healthy environment’

For his unparalleled work as an environmental champion, Oposa was conferred the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2009 as well as the UNEP Global 500 Roll of Honor, the highest UN honor in the field of the environment. | PhotographS by Dianne Bacelonia for the Daily Tribune
