Neri Miranda's post came under fire recently because her P1,000/weekly meal post was severely criticized by netizens for being unrealistic and tone-deaf when upon closer scrutiny, it turns out some produce she wrote on her list came from her own Tagaytay backyard, a fact that she only clarified later.
Naig has erased the post and promised she was going to give a more detailed list. Chito Miranda defended his wife, saying Neri meant well, and what a cruel world it was that she was criticized for her good intentions.
A lot of netizens have accused Naig—who had made a brand out of her being "wais na misis"— of being disingenuous and just making content for clout, especially in the dire economic landscape where the price of basic commodities keeps rising, particularly rice. They were quick to point out that the ingredients for the tinola that was listed in her meal plan were probably already half the budget. Regular marketgoers also remarked that she didn't seem to be aware of the current market price of regular items.
Naig's meal plan has also been the subject of memes, particularly the ones where produce is sliced very thinly to the point of being ghostly, and the cooking in miniature reels, which netizens have been re-posting as 'Neri's Meal Plan'.
