Jullebee Ranara's killer will receive 15 years imprisonment for murder and 1 year imprisonment for driving without license after being convicted today, 14 September.
Ranara is a 38-year-old Filipina domestic helper who was found lifeless in a desert in Kuwait.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, the lesser penalties were due to the accused being a minor.
"He has 30 days to appeal the judgment to the Court of First Instance," the agency said.
The family of the OFW has been informed and is grateful for the assistance provided to them by the government, it adds.
Ranara was found lifeless with a burnt and smashed head in a desert in Kuwait in January.
Her autopsy report showed that she was pregnant and the DNA samples matched with the accused — the 17-year-old son of Ranara's employer.
