BAGUIO CITY– The local legislators of La Trinidad, Benguet approved the suspension of the construction of a Multi-Purpose Building Tourism Information Center at Km. 5 parking area near the municipal building.
The construction is a project of the Department of Public Works and Highways Benguet Engineering District 1. It will be funded under the regular Fiscal Year 2023 source of fund of the agency.
La Trinidad Councilor Henry Kipas said that construction or installation of any infrastructures in the said area is not yet allowed as there are many issues concerning the place.
Kipas mentioned the ongoing issue on the contract agreement between a realty development company and the local government unit of La Trinidad for a proposed mall in the site which is still unresolved.
According to him, the parking area was declared an economic enterprise of the municipal government. Kipas stressed that the construction of the tourism center may be contradictory with any development plans in the site.
The council suggested that the project will be transferred to another site.
