BAGUIO CITY — Personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council of Bokod, Benguet is still scouring the Banao River of Bokod, Benguet since a construction worker went missing after being swept by strong currents.
The construction worker was identified a Jherby Halang, a resident of Tabangaoen, La Trinidad, Benguet.
According to the reports, Halang and his five companions went to the river in the morning of 1 September 2023 to have a picnic amid the bad weather and at 2 p.m., the Bokod Police received a call on an incident of drowning.
The police together with the Bokod MDRRMC and the Bureau of Fire Protection Bokod rushed to the scene and initial investigations disclosed that Halang and a 15-year-old girl was swimming at the river when they were swept away by the water and were being brought to the deep part of the river.
