PAREF Woodrose School will be parading a homegrown squad, the Woodrose Dance Crew, when it competes in the World of Dance Championship Series 2023 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California from 11 to 14 August.
Coached by Legit Status standout Samantha Javier, the Woodrose squad is composed of 25 18-under dancers enrolled in the Muntinlupa-based school.
It qualified to the prestigious event after emerging second in the World of Dance Philippine National Finals 2023 last 12 March at the University Theater of the University of the Philippines Diliman.
Status said making it to the World of Dance is a major accomplishment and a testament to the dedication and hard work of the Woodrose dancers.
"As their coach, it's my job to make sure that not only is the dance perfect, but that their mindset is on the right track as well. There are some ups and downs, but we always find our way back on track," Javier said.
"For my girls, I just hope they continue to work hard and know that this isn't just for them. For our supporters, just one big thank you for trusting us to carry the Philippine flag."
Senior member Jada del Rosario is confident that the team can take the crown this time around.
"We're hungrier than ever to make our alumni proud by finally getting over the second-place hump," she said.
After a four-year hiatus due to Covid pandemic, the biggest stage of dancing is set to return for a four-day international dance festival that features the highest level of dance competition and celebrity showcasing.
