General Santos will have a key addition in its coaching staff starting its next game as veteran mentor Vis Valencia will join the squad headed by Noy Pido.
Valencia confirmed the deal that will make him the latest member of the Warriors.
"Senator Manny (Pacquiao) asked me to meet with him and he wanted me to be a part of the coaching staff. Of course, I agreed," said Valencia.
But Valencia and Pacquiao's partnership will not only happen in the MPBL as the boxing legend and founder of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League is set to extend his support all the way to University of Makati.
UMak's basketball team is being handled by Valencia as well while Pacquiao graduated in the same institution with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Political Science four years ago.
"He told me that he will support the school's basketball program," added Valencia.
Valencia coached the Quezon City Capitals, one of the founding members of the MPBL back when the team only has 10 teams in 2018.
He also coached Black Mamba in the Philippine Basketball Association D-League, Makati in the MPBL and Misamis Oriental in VisMin Super Cup.
