CLARK — For successfully hosting various local and international events during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, the Philippine Sports Tourism Awards has feted the Clark Freeport as the Sports Tourism Destination of the Year for 2020 and 2021.
Clark Development Corporation president Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera received the award, expressing gratitude to the PSTA for recognizing their effort in making the Freeport a premier business and tourism destination in the country.
She dedicated the award to the workforce of CDC who overcame the challenges at the height of the global health crisis.
Aside from Devanadera, also receiving the award are CDC Tourism Promotions division manager Noemi Julian, CDC Tourism Promotions assistant manager Elenita Lorenzo, and CDC operations administrator Ma. Zoraida Camello.
Cebu-based public relations agency Selracho and PSTA founder Charles Lim along with Department of Tourism Region 3 director Carolina Uy presented the award.
"This award is obviously for the people of Clark Development Corporation who were there during the time of the pandemic," said Devanadera, whose group successfully staged local and international triathlon, basketball and volleyball tournaments during the height of the pandemic.
"It is my luck that I am receiving the award at this point in time. I am very grateful to the people of CDC."
Other awardees include Quest Plus and Conference Center-Clark as the Sports Tourism Hotel of the Year, the 2020 Philippine Cup of the Philippine Basketball Association as the Sports Tourism Tournament of the Year, Samahang Basketbol Ng Pilipinas as the National Sports Association of the Year, and Cebu Pacific as the Airline of the Year.
