The local government of Cainta, Rizal has installed a new water catchment facility to help ease the flooding problem in the town.

"We have installed a new rain catchment water facility at Genesis Subdivision. The cemented part under that is a big water reservoir," former mayor and now municipal administrator Keith Nieto said.

He added that water collected from the rainwater catchment will be used to water the plants or for the fire trucks.

"The floodwaters will be stored there, and then we put it in an overhead tank to be recycled and can be used to water the plants or put on our fire trucks," Nieto said.

The municipal administrator also said that they increased the elevation of some roads in the town to avoid flooding in the area.

"We raised the elevation of Glass Street in Lakas Bisig to permanently eliminate the flood in the area," Nieto said.

"This street is much lower than the water line of the floodway. When it is raised, the residents' problem of overflowing water in the streets will be solved," he added.
