Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman has vowed to promote inclusive development in Mindanao and educate more Filipinos on financial inclusivity, the Department of Budget and Management said on Friday.
As the only Muslim member in the Cabinet of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s administration, Pangandaman reiterated that she will champion development programs for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and Mindanao as DBM chief.
In a recent media interview, she said the Budget Department is extending assistance to the Bangsamoro government in its transition process.
"The DBM plays a major role in helping them in their budgetary process because we want them to have their own government so we're helping them in whatever way we can in terms of capacity building," she added.
In September, she attended the launch of the Public Financial Management Competency Program for BARMM Middle Managers in Davao, and spoke at the Public Financial Management Learning Session for the Bangsamoro Transition Authority Committee on Finance, Budget, and Management Parliament Members in October.
She identified modernization of the budget system as one of her major goals and planned reforms in the DBM like educating more people about financial inclusivity.
Pangandaman expressed DBM's commitment to increasing the use of technology to improve bureaucratic efficiency, including in government fiscal reporting as she vowed to optimize technology, promote transparency in the budgetary process, and enhance accountability among DBM employees.
