OVP lends helping hand

San Pedro, Laguna Mayor Art Joseph Francis Mercado on Tuesday expressed the local government's gratitude to Vice President Sara Z. Duterte for donating 100 sacks of rice for the victims of typhoon "Paeng."

"I thank Vice President Inday Sara Z. Duterte for her help for the City of San Pedro. I believe this is the first city that they dropped aid to that was affected by typhoon 'Paeng,'" Mercado said. "Ma'am Inday, thank you so much. She still hasn't forgotten. In fact, we were with her before, she campaigned house-to-house here in San Pedro. So we're very, very thankful for your support."

San Pedro City Social Welfare and Development head Maria Fatima Autor said the local government recorded a total number of 1,211 individuals in six evacuation centers in the city.

Autor added that the San Pedro City government is looking into prioritizing the Barangays of Cuyab, San Roque and Landayan, these being the largest of all the barangays and are situated near the Laguna bay.

She also thanked the Office of the Vice President for the aid for the typhoon-affected people of San Pedro, Laguna.
