Isleta sustains sizzling form

Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Chloe Isleta remains hot as she smashed two more national records in the short course division of the FINA Swimming World Cup 2022 at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre in Canada from 28 to 30 October.

Isleta, the 24-year-old De La Salle University standout, clocked one minute and 1.87 seconds to set a new record in the women's 100-meter individual medley.

Her performance enabled her to reset her own record of 1:01.96 that she set in the first leg of this prestigious tourney in Berlin from 21 to 23 October.

Isleta also clocked a record-breaking 2:13.85 in the women's 200-meter individual medley to surpass the 2:19.89 clocking of Evangeline Dato.

Aside from that, Isleta set new national records in the women's 100-meter backstroke (59.21 seconds) and the women's 200-meter backstroke (2:08.39 minutes) in the second leg of the tournament.

Isleta said her main goal is to polish her craft and keep improving in every meet she joins in.

"Seeing the times, I did improve but I just really looked at my events on how I swam and my walls here in Canada. Overall, I just made improvements here in Canada," Isleta told Daily Tribune in a phone conversation.

"There is so much more room for improvement. Again, every time I do a race, I find something I need to work on and I'm gonna try to apply it on the next meet."

Isleta now braces herself for the third and last leg of the World Cup at the Indiana University Natatorium-IUPUI in Indianapolis in the United States.

This will be the first time the FINA Swimming World Cup will have a leg in the United States since the 2006 edition when the seventh leg was held in New York City.
