Authorities in Angono, Rizal reported that four small businessmen from the municipality fell victim to a scammer who ordered a total of P11,765 worth of food via phone calls.
Angono Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon said that the scammer — identified as a certain Fernando Ablaza — ordered a total of P2,300 worth of takoyaki at milktea from Fiestakoyaki and Festeaval Café while the pizzas and bottled water worth P1,825 were ordered from Jhulz Simplydelish.
In addition, the P2,440 worth of food at Liberty Prod and the staggering P5,200 worth of viands, silog, milktea and other foods were cheated from Hiraya and Trabi Cafe.
Authorities said that the delivery was addressed to the municipal hall and the scammer even mentioned that the order will be given to town's frontliners.
Meantime, Vice Mayor Gerry Calderon said he will be giving a reward to those who can identify the real identity of Fernando Ablaza.
Aside from helping the victims to file a blotter at the local police, the local government also provided cash assistance — an initial amount almost half of the amount scammed from them — to help them recover their investment.
