Phl logs 11,995 new Covid-19 cases

The Philippines recorded a total of 11,995 new Covid-19 cases from 10 to 16 October, the Department of Health said Monday.

Based on the department's latest case bulletin, the fresh infections were 22 percent lower compared to reported cases from the previous week.

Average daily infections are standing at 1,714, slightly lower compared to the previous week's average of 2,188.

The Health department also reported an additional 272 verified Covid-19-related deaths over the past week, of which 26 deaths occurred between 10 to 23 October alone.

"Of the 272 deaths, 28 occurred in October 2022, 3 in September 2022, 3 in August 2022, 1 in January 2022, 186 in August 2021, 14 in July 2021, 19 in May 2021, and 18 in April 2021." the agency said.

A total of 650 severe and critical cases were admitted to hospitals due to the respiratory disease, according to the DoH.

Of the 2,520 intensive care unit beds, 581 or 23.1 percent were occupied while 5,666 or 26.4 percent of the 21,474 non-ICU COVID-19 beds were in use.
