“Leni’s report is really no big deal, although she and her propagandists have been trying — unsuccessfully — to make it look as if her report would be the answer to ending the drug war.

If Vice President, for now, Leni Robredo thinks that “postponing” the release of her report on the drug war again is going to whet the appetite of the Filipinos, she is dead wrong. Again.

The first time, Leni claimed she was postponing the release of her drug war report so as not to disturb the scheduled Southeast Asian Games and that she would release her report after the SEAG.

The SEAG came and went, with a cache of gold medals won by our athletes and Leni comes up with a new reason for delaying her report, which by the way, Filipinos — except perhaps for the yellow-hued parties and her supporters in the local and international human rights groups that have lost their credibility — don’t really care, one way or the other.

This time around — the second time — Leni used yet another excuse, this time blaming the destructive earthquake in Mindanao for the delay of her report’s release, as Leni said she held the release of her report to allow the country to focus on rescue and relief operations.

“We think that it would be better for all of us to focus our attention on helping the victims of the quake. We hope that despite the tragedy, they could still feel the spirit of Christmas,” Leni was quoted as saying.

Robredo stressed that providing assistance to affected communities is more urgent than the release of her report which is claimed to consist of her findings on the President’s war on drugs during her 25 days as the co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).

As if to prove that there is indeed a report she made, she flashed what she called her report, saying: “In fact, the report is here. It’s a 40-page report, the summary of which I was scheduled to disclose today. But because of the strong earthquake in Davao del Sur and adjacent provinces like South Cotabato, we decided to postpone it,” she told reporters.

“For me, it would not be the right time to focus on the ICAD report, there will be another time for this,” Robredo said.

Her latest schedule for her report’s release, is after Christmas, with no date set. But wait! That might be postponed again. After all, Leni may have another excuse: Her report should not compete with the birth of Jesus Christ, as it is time to give glory to God, and not to Leni, or her report.

Oops. There may be yet another postponement and may go all the way to February since the Christmas season in the Philippines began two days ago with the Simbang Gabi and is expected to end next year, on 6 January — the feast of the three kings — despite what Vatican says is celebrated on the First Sunday of January.

Then here is Valentine’s Day and the month of hearts. But really, who cares whether she puts out her report or not? It can hardly be earthshaking — truth is, nothing from Leni or the yellows can ever be earthshaking!

It is nothing that the Filipinos do not know about the war on drugs, and they also know that the number of victims’ deaths in the war on drugs have been exaggerated. Why, even Leni herself dismissed the official numbers the ICAD heads had given her, claiming higher numbers that were clearly exaggerated by the yellows who fed the fake numbers to the rights group that swallowed them, hook, line and sinker.

But no matter, because with Leni and the yellows, her report is being billed as if it is so earth-shaking a disclosure of the drug war which they, including the rights groups characterize as “murderous” and that Filipinos are all waiting, with bated breath, for the disclosure of her findings during her short stint.

It is probably accurate to state that the majority of Filipinos don’t care, one way or the other whether or not Leni releases her report. It will hardly be worth anything, except a news report or two, which would be ho-hum reports.

After all, her so-called report which she billed as “Ulat ng Bayan” is really directed for the consumption of her local and international human rights group and the usual yellows for yet another opportunity to hit out at the Duterte administration.
