Airport fire and rescue teams and Lufthansa Technik Aircraft Maintenance Center workers remove the Jetstar Asia Airbus stalled at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport runway on Saturday morning.
Several flights were either canceled or delayed on Saturday after a Jetstar Asia flight bound for Narita, Japan, overshot Runway 13-31 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1.
A statement from airport authorities said the Jetstar Asia Airbus A320 (Flight GK40), while positioning for takeoff at 2:08 a.m., overshot a turn, causing the front and right landing gears to veer toward the grassy Runway Safety Area.
At 2:32 a.m., airport fire and rescue operations teams proceeded to the site to assist 140 passengers, including an infant, and crew and took them back inside Terminal 1 via shuttle buses.
The disabled aircraft blocked parts of the runway until it was towed to the Lufthansa Technik Aircraft Maintenance Center by 10:30 a.m.
