Following the sacking of Vice President Leni Robredo as co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD), Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Monday clarified that President Rodrigo Duterte made the move simply because he has lost his trust with the Vice President.

In a statement, Go explained that Robredo had been working against the government — instead of cooperating with the administration, noting that the Vice President is “too keen” on sharing information with other countries.

The senator noted that the President expected Robredo to continue the efforts of the administration but she did the opposite, adding that the recent statement of Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan may have also contributed to the President’s decision. Pangilinan recently dared the President to fire Robredo as co-chair of ICAD.

Go also recalled that Robredo acted the same way when she was appointed by the President as chair of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council.

In the same interview, Go said that he chose not to go with the President to the ASEAN–Korea Commemorative Summit because he wants to prioritize his work in the Senate.
