Filipino-British football player and the country’s all-time top scorer Phil Younghusband on Monday announced his retirement from the sport.

“Hanging up my boots! Thank you to my bosses, my coaches, teammates and all the supporters who have been part of my journey,” the 32-year old posted on his social media account.

“See you all soon in a new adventure,” the post added.

Younghusband was the Philippines’ top goalscorer with 52 and is the sole player to have racked up more than 50 points in international competitions.

The Fil-Brit striker also holds the record as the player who had the most games played for the national team with 108 outings.

Best remembered for his goal during the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup in Hanoi, Vietnam, Younghusband will cap his 14-year professional career as one of the faces of the Philippine football.

He last played for the Davao Aguilas in the Philippines Football League in 2017 and 2018.
