Baguio groomed for food tourism

BAGUIO CITY — Aside from its cool climate and scenic views, the City of Pines is now being seen as a premiere food tourism destination, according to Department of Tourism Cordillera Regional Director Jovy Ganongan.
The city will be hosting the “Kain Na” event from 11 to 13 October 2019 at the Camp John Hay Techno Hub, wherein iconic Filipino dishes from Baguio and the Cordillera region will be showcased.
“This will be a venue for farmers, food vendors and chefs to feature their respective produce and products. It is a good venue to highlight the regional heritage dishes of Cordillera,” Ganongan said.
She added that farmers and chefs will be given the opportunity to strengthen their partnership in the promotion of their farms, trade, events and others relating to the food and culinary tourism industry.
The tourism director also said that the event will be interactive as there will be exchange of knowledge in cooking and farming. She added that there will be a travel exchange where for food traders will have consultations with each other.
