Jose Rizal University (JRU) outgunned Emilio Aguinaldo College, 69-63, to get back on winning track of Season 95 National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament yesterday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Agem Miranda and Marq Dionisio conspired in delivering the goods for the Heavy Bombers, who fought tooth and nail in the first half before waging a strong rally en route to the victory.
Miranda delivered 16 points on top of two rebounds and two assists while Dionisio tallied a double-double of 13 points, 16 rebounds and three assists for the Heavy Bombers, who finally barged back into the win column after being cloburred by Mapua University, College of Saint Benilde and Letran College.
“We always review our past games to figure out on how to be competitive in closing out games. This win proved that our execution towards the final canto worked,” said Heavy Bombers coach Louie Gonzales, whose wards now sport a 4-7 win-loss mark.
Gonzales, however, admitted that their chances of advancing to the Final Four are getting slim.
