Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde on Tuesday vowed to continue the purge of rogue cops, especially those involved in criminal activities like trading narcotics.

Albayalde issued the warning following the arrest of a member of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), during a buy-bust operation in Muntinlupa City on Monday.

Patrolman Leo D. Valdez was arrested by three units of the PNP. He had previously been tagged for alleged involvement in the drug trade.

“I reiterate my directive to all PNP personnel to refrain from committing illegal activities,” Albayalde told reporters during a press briefing at the PNP headquarters at Camp Crame, Quezon City.

“To those who will continue to disregard my directives, we will throw the full force of the law on you,” he said, sending a warning to the 185,000-strong PNP organization.

A visibly upset Albayalde presented the policeman to media more than 12 hours after his arrest at about 10:05 p.m., following the conduct of a buy-bust operation along PNR site, Marquez Compound, Brgy. Putatan, Muntinlupa City.
