Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso had called on all city government officials to implement the curfew ordinance in the city for minors 18 years old and below.

Domagoso said the enforcement will take effect tonight from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.

The strict implementation was ordered following reports from a netizen from Del Pan, Tondo of nightly riots from youths. He said he personally rushed to the area and scolded the parents of the affected youths, telling them to bring their kids home.

The mayor has started patrolling the Tondo area at 11 p.m. accompanied by a platoon-size police force headed by P/Maj. Rizalino Ibay, which went around until 1 am.

He started chasing youths he caught in the act of sniffing solvent, who were rescued by the Manila Social Welfare Department. Also netted by the campaign where those caught drinking in the streets.

The area where Domagoso conducted foot patrol was met with a huge number of people who got out of their houses to show their support.

This has prompted him to order the arrest of the supplier of the solvent to the streetchildren roaming the said area day and night.
