Muntinlupa earned 10th place in competitiveness ranking among the country’s 33 highly urbanized cities.
Muntinlupa City is on a roll this year as it bagged two awards from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
This year, Muntinlupa earned 10th place in competitiveness ranking among the country’s 33 highly urbanized cities. Likewise, the city received “Resilience Award,” placing third in the 6th Regional Competitiveness Summit.
Last year, the city was ranked 12th among the most competitive highly urbanized cities in the country.
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi said the two awards “will serve as an inspiration to bring better and more efficient services in the city.”

Fresnedi attributed the Resilience Award to the local government’s thrust in acquisition of disaster risk response equipment, mainstreaming of DRR training, citywide and community-based basic life support workshops.
Annually the DTI, through the National Competitiveness Council, releases the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index which ranks local government units in the country based on four factors, namely economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure and resilience.
The index is meant to encourage local chief executives to carry out more programs and projects that would enhance the competitiveness of their local government units.
For 2018 the Top 3 most competitive cities among 33 highly urbanized cities are Quezon City, Manila and Pasay City. The top competitive provinces are Rizal, Laguna and Davao del Norte. NSB
