The Bureau of Customs on Wednesday seized illegal drug at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport with an estimated street value of P37.3 million.
Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña together with Port of NAIA District Collector Mimel Talusan led the seizure of the illegal drugs.
The confiscated contrabands consisted of 5,239 grams of shabu and 1,003 pieces of party drugs or ecstasy.
The shabu were concealed in a baby carrier, camera, finance magazines and bar stool while the party drugs were concealed in wooden toys.
One of the seized shabu containers is intended for export to New Zealand while the other came into the country from the United States. The ecstasy was shipped from Germany.
All the illegal drugs were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of Customs (BoC)-Port of Manila (PoM) announced that for the first time in nine years it surpassed target revenue collections for four consecutive months.
