The Supreme Court (SC)has issued a show cause order against lawyer Jesus Nicardo Falcis lll and three others in connection with the same sex-marriage proposal still pending in court.

Aside from Falcis, those issued the order were his co-counsels in the petition Darwin Angeles, Keisha Trina Guangko and Christopher Ryan Maranan of the Molo Sia Dy Tuazon Ty and Coloma Law Offices.

The SC stated in its order to submit on time the memorandum of their camp in connection with the earlier oral arguments conducted before the SC on the case involving same sex-marriage.

Falcis and his co-counsels were given 10 days to explain to the court why they will not be cited for indirect contempt of court for failure to comply with the order dated 26 July 2018.

“The court also denied the petitioners Motion for Extension of Time to file memorandum for lack of merit. For this reason, the Court dispensed with petitioner and petioners-in-intervention’s memorandum,” the SC said.

The SC said that instead of promptly submitting the memorandum, Falcis and the petitioners-in-intervention filed a motion for extention.

Falcis and his co-counsels wanted the court to grant them an additional seven days within which to file a revised and final memorandum.
