Barring any injury, June Mar will easily get at least eight MVP

For legend Ramon Fernandez, the dominance of June Mar Fajardo has just begun.

Fernandez, now a Philippine Sports commissioner, yesterday revealed that Fajardo is still good to win at least four more Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards, making him the most decorated player in league history.

Right now, Fajardo is tied with Fernandez and Alvin Patrimonio with four MVP titles. He won his seventh Best Player of the Conference (BPC) title in convincing fashion after delivering 1,153 statistical points before Game 4 of their Commissioner’s Cup best-of-seven finals duel with Ginebra.

More than that, he is on track to win his fifth MVP title due to his dominant performance in the Philippine Cup and the Commissioner’s Cup.

Interestingly, Fernandez is way head of him as he serves as the league’s all-time leading scorer with 18,995 points with 19 PBA crowns.

Still, Fernandez believes Fajardo would win as many as eight MVP titles.

“Barring any injury, June Mar will easily get at least eight MVP and many more BPC,” said Fernandez in a phone interview with Daily Tribune.

“He’s the best right now. He’s the best big man of his time. He’s the most dominant player today.”

Fernandez explained that his top protégé from University of Cebu is just entering his prime at 28 years old. Should he escape any major injury, he can remain as the most dominant player in the PBA.

But he’s letting the fans do the judgment.

“I would be biased, of course,” Fernandez said “I’ll leave it to the fans. That’s for the basketball aficionados to argue.”

“But he’ll probably get that. He’s on pace barring any major injury.”
