CHILDREN enjoying the playground of one of the newly built health centers in Davao City. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO The city government of Davao, in partnership with the Department of Health (DoH), recently inaugurated three new health centers that would bring basic medical needs to every Davaoeño.

Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte led the blessing of the new medical facilities.

“This is a big help for the community since we are bringing basic health closer to the people. They do not need to spend big to have basic checkups since these are just located in their barangays,” she said.

The three health centers are located in Talomo, Agdao and Jacinto Street.

They were built in partnership with the DoH Region 11 and Banco de Oro (BdO). DoH provided the financing of the new health center building in Talomo while BdO funded the Agdao and Jacinto health centers.

The Davao mayor said more health centers in the city will be opened within the year.

Bringing basic health needs closer to the people is one of the 10 priority agenda of Mayor Inday.

Aside from the health centers, the city government also provides regular caravans during which the City Health Office (CHO) brings its services to far-flung areas.

The CHO also deployed two doctors in the barrios.
