David Ezra, Markki Stroem and Armand Ferrer

Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group (ATEG) recently announced the male leads in Side Show, the Broadway musical theater favorite set to touch local audiences this August.

Markki Stroem, David Ezra and Arman Ferrer play Terry, Buddy and Jake, respectively, the three men who are instrumental in the journey of conjoined twins Daisy (Gab Pangilinan) and Violet Hilton (Kayla Rivera).

Stroem, who plays the determined talent scout Terry Connor, was discovered on Pilipinas Got Talent and was part of the recently concluded celebrity edition of We Love OPM. He made his debut in professional musical theater, however, in Atlantis’s production of Next to Normal in 2011. Most recently he was seen in Jersey Boys from Atlantis Theatrical, Awitin Mo at Isasayaw Ko and Hair.

Ezra is often thought of as the son of diva Dulce, but he already has numerous awards of his own under his belt. He won Best New Male Artist in the 2015 Aliw Awards and Best Actor in a Musical for his title role in Aurelio Sedisyoso: A Rock Sarswela in the 2017 Aliw Awards. Ezra is known for his powerful portrayals in La Estrella, Mabining Mandirigma and notably, Himala, earlier this year. He plays aspiring musician Buddy Foster in Side Show.

Not to be upstaged is Ferrer playing Jake, the trusted friend of the twins. Ferrer is a classical singer and a musical theater actor who has played multiple lead roles with Tanghalang Pilipino, Tanghalang Ateneo and Dulaang UP. He has been a featured soloist of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra. He originated the role of Emilio Aguinaldo in Mabining Mandirigma, which won him the Philstage Gawad Buhay 2015 for Best Featured Male in a Musical.

With a book by Bill Condon (Chicago) and music by Henry Krieger (Dreamgirls), Side Show is based on the remarkable true story of conjoined twins whose rise from freak shows to the glamor of film stardom tests the unbreakable bond between siblings
